Protective Mechanisms of Diet - International Research Network

With the advances of research in the area of Nutrition we are now aware that the goal of a well-balanced diet is not limited to preventing deficiencies and avoiding excesses: scientists have documented that nutrition plays a key role in the prevention of those ‘civilization’ diseases, such as cardiovascular, cancer and diabetes, that are nowadays the leading causes of death in post-industrialized countries.

The mission of our research is to investigate the role of Nutrition in the prevention of chronic diseases following an evidence-based approach, with particular focus on the effects of specific foods or bioactive compounds as well as food habits by means of dietary intervention studies on humans, animal models and studies with cell cultures.

During the last twenty years we have developed collaborations at an International and National level among different institutions and leading research centers, promoting the sharing of knowledge through research and academic programs by student, researcher and professor exchanges, which we believe to be key elements to a faster and better progress of science.

On this website you will find information on our recent and ongoing research activities. Feel free to contact us if you are interested in what we do and if you share our research interests. We are always happy to exchange ideas or explore new possibilities for future collaborations. We are looking forward to hearing from you!
